Before the opening match at the 2026 Thailand Championship Friendly Tournament, coach Diego Raul Giustozzi said that the Vietnamese futsal team had 4 training sessions after the 2026 national championship ended.
In a short period of time, the coaching staff focused on completing the contents of personal tactics, preparing the competition psychology and adjusting some tactical details to help the team have the best preparation.
Assessing the team's goals at the tournament, the Argentine strategist affirmed that the result is not the top priority, although the whole team always aims for victory in each match.
Coach Diego Raul Giustozzi shared: "Of course we will enter the field with the determination to win. But what I want to see most is the performance of the players. The 20-21 year old players today have matured a lot both psychologically and professionally. I want them to promote their leading role for new players. With new players, I want to see how they face and overcome pressure. I believe they have enough ability to become important factors of the team in the future.
The coach born in 1978 also said that the tournament in Thailand is part of the long-term preparation plan of the Vietnamese futsal team towards the Asian Futsal Championship finals, and also the FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifiers.
According to coach Diego, the force rejuvenation process is being deployed methodically. At the Asian Futsal Championship finals at the beginning of the year, the team had 8 young players on the squad and this trend will continue to be maintained to build a successor force.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese futsal team will play about 15-16 international matches before entering the FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifiers. This is considered an opportunity for young players to accumulate experience, improve their bravery and be ready to take on an important role in the squad.
Assessing the competition in Asia, coach Diego Raul Giustozzi emphasized: "There are currently about 12 teams in Asia capable of competing for 5 World Cup spots. The competition is very fierce. However, with a long-term plan, methodical preparation and consistency in force building, I am very confident in the future of the Vietnamese futsal team. We will bring dedicated performances at this tournament".
