On the evening of November 10, the Vietnamese futsal team lost 0-2 to the Indonesian futsal team in the final match of the 2024 Southeast Asian futsal tournament, thereby accepting second place in this year's tournament.
Evaluating this match, coach Diego Giustozzi of the Vietnamese futsal team said: "I am proud of my players. Indonesia played better than us in the first half, but in the second half, the Vietnamese futsal team regained control of the game and played better. I think we deserved a draw in the two regular halves."
"As I said before the match, Indonesia has the advantage of playing one match less than us. The Vietnamese futsal team still has to go into 2 extra halves in the semi-final. Due to injuries, we entered the match with only 8-9 players fit enough to play. If we had the full squad to play the final, I'm sure that fitness would not be a problem, the match would be different," coach Diego Giustozzi further explained.
Although they did not win the championship, the Vietnamese futsal team still has reason to hope for the future when many new players such as Ngoc Anh, Da Hai, Cong Vien... have had impressive performances.
"I am very satisfied with the performance of Cong Vien, Ngoc Anh, Van Tu, Da Hai... because they have shown that they are good enough to play in international matches for the national team. I am surprised by their performance. These players have partly filled the void left by Minh Tri, Ngoc Linh... This is really a good thing for the future of Vietnamese futsal.
If I discover a new face who plays well, I am ready to call them up to the national futsal team. I don't care about age. It is also important to see that Thai Son Bac is doing a good job of training young people. Their players are young but have proven that they are strong enough to play for the national team," coach Diego Giustozzi emphasized.
