On the afternoon of November 10, the Thai futsal team faced the Australian futsal team in the third place match of the 2024 Southeast Asian futsal tournament.
After a heavy 1-5 loss to Indonesia in the semi-final, the Thai futsal team played with determination against Australia to regain honor in the tournament held on home ground.
After only 6 minutes of play, the Thai team opened the scoring. Pirapat Kaewwilai was the one who scored the opening goal for the representative of the land of golden pagodas.
In the 17th minute, the home team continued to increase the gap. Chaowala Sriawut made a sharp pass, helping Thanawat Koedbangrachan penetrate the penalty area and make an accurate shot, raising the score to 2-0 for the team nicknamed "War Elephants".
In the 19th minute, Sriawut once again assisted Koedbangrachan to score a double, at the same time bringing the Golden Temple team to a 3-0 lead over the Australian team.
The match started to get more tense in the second half. While they were busy pushing up their formation to find an equalizer, the Australian team made a mistake and conceded a fourth goal.
Amarin Ekaphan was the one who put his name on the scoreboard with a long-range shot to put the ball into an empty net in the 36th minute, which was also the goal that sealed the match's score.
