Attending the event were General Luong Tam Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, Chairman of the Vietnam People's Public Security Sports Association; representatives of central and local ministries, departments; embassies of various countries, the World Police Federation and more than 2,000 athletes from 19 countries and territories.
The opening ceremony began with a drum performance with the theme “Aspiration to Shine” performed by the People’s Police Academy Art Troupe, harmoniously combining drum art, lion dance, dragon dance, flag dance and folk dances.
Speaking at the ceremony, Senior General Luong Tam Quang expressed his warm welcome to athletes, coaches and referees from all over the world participating in the tournament. This tournament is not only an opportunity to promote the development of Taekwondo but also a bridge to strengthen cooperation between international police forces for global peace and security.
The tournament is also a practical activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Public Security Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection.
With the slogan “The Power of Police! Taekwondo Police - global citizen protectors”, the tournament demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and cooperation of law enforcement forces around the world. This is also a testament to Vietnam’s commitment to contributing to maintaining regional and global peace and stability.
Following the ceremony were Taekwondo demonstrations from athletes from the World Police Taekwondo Federation.
The opening ceremony ended with an art program with the theme "Circle of Friends", imbued with Vietnamese cultural identity, expressing the spirit of integration and aspiration for development.
The program conveys a message of friendship, cooperation and working together towards a new era of prosperity.
The 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open promises to bring exciting competitions, leaving a deep impression in the hearts of international friends.
