The tournament is within the framework of the National Student Sports Tournament System chaired by the Ministry of Education and Training, with the coordination of the Vietnam University and Professional Sports Association, Vietcontent Digital Technology and Trading Joint Stock Company and a number of universities across the country.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the first matches in Group A took place. The opening match between the host Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Hue University ended in a 1-1 draw. Notably, after scoring for Hue University, player Diep Dung Bach (number 7) took action to convey the message "Mong Hue peacefully overcomes floods" to the people of his hometown who are affected by natural disasters.
In the remaining match of Group A, Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports defeated Cuu Long University with a score of 1-0.
On the same day, in Group B, the University of Information and Communications Technology - Thai Nguyen University had an impressive 3-1 victory over Van Lang University. The final match of the opening day between Dong Phang University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education also ended with a 1-0 victory for the city representative named after Uncle Ho.

The final round takes place from November 18 to 29, 2025, with the format of 16 teams divided into 4 round-robin groups to calculate points to select the 8 best teams to enter the quarter-finals.
