According to research, the Asian Athletics Federation will apply achievement standards to award slots to athletes participating in the 2027 Asian Championships. From this tournament onwards, subsequent organizations will apply achievement standards to award slots.
The Asian Athletics Federation has announced 20 individual achievement standards for men and 20 individual achievement standards for women to prepare for the 2027 Asian Championships. Athletes must meet this standard to have a spot to compete in the above tournament.
Preliminarily, some standards are noted such as men's 100m is 10 seconds 31, women's 100m is 11 seconds 71; men's 200m is 21 seconds 04, women's 200m is 24 seconds 09; men's 400m is 46 seconds 20, women's 400m is 53 seconds 73...
The Asian Athletics Championships is held as usual every 2 years. The most recent time took place was in 2025 in South Korea. In 2027, this tournament will be held in China.
Along with the Asian Athletics Championships, the Asian Athletics Federation also organizes the continental relay championship.
The first Asian Relay Championship takes place in 2024 in Thailand. This year, the 2nd Asian Relay Championship will compete in China in June 2026. However, the standard level is not applied to the Asian Relay Championship.
According to the plan, the third Asian Relay Championship will be held in 2027 in India.
Previously, athletes from countries were allowed to register to participate in the Asian Championships without needing to be considered for standards in each event. The application of achievement standards from 2027 is to help the Asian Athletics Federation improve their expertise in competition.
