Pickleball tournament brings economic value
The Vietnam Pickleball Federation has not been born. However, many pickleball tournaments take place in Vietnam in grassroots forms or under the national system. A number of international tournaments have been held in Vietnam. The prize level for each tournament is high in value in terms of money and goods. The number of reward funds is high or low depending on the number of participants paying fees and accompanying sponsors. Many pickleball tournaments in Vietnam have begun selling tickets for spectators to watch. Some tournaments are broadcast live on social networking platforms or sports TV channels.
From there, it can be seen that the commercial value brought by Vietnamese pickleball tournaments is very real. However, sports need to be supervised by state management agencies and professional social organizations such as federations and associations to ensure that tournaments are organized with quality.
Recently, the PPA Tour Asia - MB Vietnam Cup 2025 in Da Nang attracted more than 7,900 spectators to watch live. The number recognized by Guinness World Records is the pickleball tournament with the largest live audience in the world. This tournament has a prize fund of 150,000 USD (more than 4 billion VND).
In the near future, the VTV A.O.Smith Open 2025 Pickleball Tournament organized by Vietnam Television will have a total prize of more than 1 billion VND. The Vietnam Pickleball Tournament is organized by the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports in coordination with units in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to regulations, Sports Federations and Associations play a core role in managing and developing a specific sport, being responsible for training, organizing competitions, managing athletes and coaches, making policy recommendations to the State and mobilizing funding resources to develop the movement.
In which, sports federations and associations are allowed to receive sponsorship and support from domestic organizations and individuals, foreign organizations and individuals and manage and use these sponsorship and support sources in accordance with the provisions of law. Therefore, the establishment of the Vietnam Pickleball Federation also complies with these regulations.
Local federations are established soon
Many opinions say that managers must catch up with social trends so that the Vietnam Pickleball Federation can soon be formed. Currently, many localities have taken the lead by establishing their own Pickleball Federations.
The Da Nang City Pickleball Federation was established and has a management role to organize the PPA Tour Asia Pickleball Tournament - MB Vietnam Cup 2025. The Da Nang Pickleball Federation successfully organized the tournament and made a profit.
Last year, the Ho Chi Minh City Tennis Federation Executive Committee agreed to merge pickleball to change it to the Ho Chi Minh City Tennis - Pickleball Federation. The Quang Ngai Provincial Pickleball Federation was established in June this year while the Quang Ninh Provincial Pickleball Association was established in 2024.
At the launching ceremony of the Executive Committee of the Quang Ninh Pickleball Association for the first term of 2024 - 2029, General Secretary Vu Trung Hieu affirmed that the establishment of the association is to best develop the pickleball movement in the locality as well as accompany professional sports managers to bring this sport to the attention of the people.
Head of the pickleball sport department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) - Mr. Mac Xuan Tung - shared that the establishment of Federations and Pickleball Associations in many localities is inevitable for the development of the need for management and orientation for this new sport.
