On April 15, the Vietnam General Martial Arts Federation - VMMAF announced that it had been impersonated by a website in cyberspace with information related to betting behavior.
The website has introduced itself as an MMA (Composite Martial Arts) betting platform to guide users to register accounts, participate in betting, track betting odds and perform related transactions.
VMMAF's announcement clearly states: "The above website has used information, data and images related to MMA tournaments in Vietnam, including the Lion Championship system directly managed and organized by the Federation, as well as the Than Vo - GMA (Gods of Martial Arts) tournament organized by GMA One Member Limited Liability Company, to build content to serve betting activities.
The Federation affirms that there is no licensing, cooperation or authorization for this website in exploiting content related to MMA tournaments in Vietnam.
The Vietnam General Martial Arts Federation emphasizes that all acts of taking advantage of images and data of MMA tournaments to organize betting in any form are contrary to the principles and purposes of the Federation's activities, and at the same time show signs of violating the provisions of Vietnamese law on betting and using cyberspace.
These behaviors not only negatively affect the reputation of MMA tournaments but also pose risks to the fan community and athletes”.
VMMAF has sent a written report to competent functional agencies, including the Department of Political Security, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, the Criminal Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) and Hanoi City Police and requested inspection, verification and handling according to the provisions of law.
