LPB Ninh Binh reverses the tide to enter the semi-finals of VTV9 Cup - Binh Dien

NGUYỄN ĐĂNG |

Taking advantage of Hanoi Tasco Auto using many young faces, LPB Ninh Binh won 3-1, thereby reaching the semi-finals of the VTV9 - Binh Dien Cup.

With Gunma Green Wings defeating Suwon City 3-1 in the previous match, LPB Ninh Binh was forced to defeat Hanoi Tasco Auto 3-0 or 3-1 to get a ticket to the semi-finals. If they lose or win 3-2, they will be eliminated.

This is a significant challenge for coach Thai Thanh Tung and his team as Hanoi Tasco Auto is on a 12-match winning streak. In the first two matches of the VTV9 - Binh Dien Cup 2026, the Capital team defeated Suwon City and Gunma Green Wings with a score of 3-0.

Although they had tickets to the semi-finals early with the top spot in the group, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet still used the strongest squad in set 1. With a squad of athletes including mostly who have and are wearing the Vietnamese national team jersey such as Vi Thi Yen Nhi, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Le Khanh Dang, Le Thanh Thuy, Doan Thi Xuan... Hanoi Tasco Auto played overwhelmingly against the opponent. They put pressure right from the serve, effectively blocked, persistently defended and attacked diversely. In this set, Hanoi Tasco Auto won with a score of 25-19.

In set 2, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet changed almost the entire squad. He brought on young faces with little experience such as Thanh Chuc, Thuy Linh, Huyen Trang, Khanh Linh... This changed the game on the court. LPB Ninh Binh completely surpassed their opponent to win with a score difference of 25-12.

In set 3, Hanoi Tasco Auto continued to use many young athletes. However, after having experiences in set 2 and tactical adjustments from coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, the Capital team played much better. They continuously chased their opponent at the beginning of the set, not letting LPB Ninh Binh create too big a gap.

However, towards the end of the set, the level difference between the two teams was still clearly revealed. Against the opponent's not the strongest squad, LPB Ninh Binh completely overwhelmed, continuously scoring points by Dinh Thi Thuy, Kuttika, Luu Thi Hue... In this set, LPB Ninh Binh continued to win with a score of 25-14, thereby leading the opponent 2-1.

In set 4, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet still persistently used young athletes. Their pillars such as Le Thanh Thuy, Khanh Dang, Nhu Quynh, Doan Thi Xuan were still outside the court. This made the scenario in the previous two sets repeated. LPB Ninh Binh did not encounter much difficulty to win with a score of 25-15.

With a 3-1 comeback victory over Hanoi Tasco Auto (19-25, 25-12, 25-14, 25-15), LPB Ninh Binh followed in the footsteps of their opponents to the semi-finals. This result also pushed Gunma Green Wings to be eliminated, having the same score as LPB Ninh Binh and Hanoi Tasco Auto but losing on goal difference. Japanese club together with Suwon City, Binh Chung Thong Tin and VietinBank competed for rankings from 5-8.

In the semi-finals, Hanoi Tasco Auto will meet VTV Binh Dien Long An, while LPB Ninh Binh will meet Jiangsu.
