This year, Nguyen Thuy Linh is the only representative of Vietnamese badminton to compete in the women's singles event of the 2026 Masters International Badminton Tournament held in Malaysia from May 19 to May 24.
Notably, Nguyen Thuy Linh was chosen as the No. 7 female singles seed. The Vietnamese player will compete in the women's singles main round to meet the first opponent, Wong Ling Ching (Malaysia).
However, Thuy Linh's bracket will have the world's leading player and also No. 1 seed Chen Yu Fei (China).
The 2026 Masters International Badminton Tournament in Malaysia has the BWF World Tour Super 500 level of the world. Therefore, Thuy Linh has many opportunities to improve her ranking if she achieves good results. Currently, Thuy Linh is ranked 21st in the world women's singles.
Before going to Malaysia, Thuy Linh competed and won the women's singles championship of the 2026 National Club Badminton Championship.
The last time she competed in an international tournament was in April. At that time, Thuy Linh represented the Vietnamese badminton team to compete in the 2026 Asian Championships in China. However, she did not have a medal in the women's singles event.
This year, Thuy Linh is also preparing professionally to compete in the 2026 World Championships to be held in August in India. Therefore, international competition programs, including the Masters 2026 tournament in Malaysia, will help her increase her level.
