The second BDMNTN-XL badminton tournament with a new format was held in Jakarta (Indonesia). This year's tournament takes place from October 2 to October 5 with 4 participating teams including Blitzers, Hurricanes, Lightning and Rockets.
Accordingly, Nguyen Thuy Linh participated for the first time in the Lightning shirt. Vietnam's No. 1 tennis player is on the same team as Viktor Axelsen (denmark) - an athlete who won the Olympic gold medal twice and former world No. 1 men's doubles player Fajar Alfian (Indonesia).
The members of the same Lightning group include Yuta Watanabe (Japan) - Olympic bronze medalist, Nur Izzuddin (Malaysia), Rutaparna Panda (India), Shevon Jemie Lai (Malaysia), Tse Ying Suet (Hong Kong, China).
According to the announcement from the organizing committee, the BDMNTN-XL badminton tournament will take place in the format of 2 singles matches, 2 3 matches, 3 matches, each match lasting 8 minutes. With the above format, athletes are forced to have appropriate tactics and the role of captain is promoted.
The 2025 BDMNTN-XL Badminton Team Tournament has a prize value of up to 750,000 USD (over 19 billion VND). Of which, the champion team will receive 350,000 USD (about 9 billion VND).
In 2024, the tournament was welcomed by fans for the first time, creating a premise and attraction for 2025.
For Nguyen Thuy Linh - the No. 1 female tennis player in Vietnam, she suffered a leg injury 10 days ago and had to stop at the first round of the Chinese badminton Masters women's singles tournament.
However, Thuy Linh has recovered in time to participate in the BDMNTN-XL 2025 badminton team tournament in Jakarta. This is a good opportunity for Nguyen Thuy Linh to practice more skills before participating in other international tournaments.
