On November 21, the organizing committee of the 33rd SEA Games (taking place from December 9 to December 20, 2025) officially announced the list of competitions. 50 competitions with 105 sub-disciplines and 3 performance events will be held at the Games next year.
The 50 sports that Thailand will officially host at the Games next year are divided into 3 groups, including group 1 with aquatic sports (swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming), athletics, archery, badminton, basketball, canoeing and rowing, cycling, equestrian sports, fencing, handball, hockey, judo, rugby, sailing, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, triathlon, volleyball, wrestling, skating, ice hockey, and weightlifting.
Group 2 includes baseball and softball, billiards & snooker, boxing, floorball, e-sports, muay, netball, pencak silat, petanque, sepak takraw, squash, bowling, karate, jujitsu, wushu, kabaddi, teqball, kickboxing, bowls, chess.
Group 3 includes discus throwing, tug of war, and aerial sports. Group 3 sports are meant for demonstration competitions.
The total number of medal sets of group 1 and group 2 is 569. The number of events of group 3 is 12.
The 33rd SEA Games will be held in the winter of 2025. After 18 years, Thailand will host this tournament.
Currently, countries will plan and register a preliminary list of participating members with the Organizing Committee at the Head of Delegation meeting held in 2025 in Thailand. As expected, the Organizing Committee will set the fee for each participating member for the competition time at the next year's Games at 50 USD/person/day.
