The 2026 Masters International Badminton Tournament is still taking place in China until the end of May 17. However, Vietnamese players have all lost matches and been eliminated.
Le Duc Phat played his first match in men's singles to meet Henrikho Wibowo Kho (Indonesia). Although the opponent was a player with a lower ranking than Duc Phat in the BWF world rankings, the Vietnamese player lost the match with a score of 1-2 (16-21, 21-18, 18-21).
Also stopping like Duc Phat at the tournament in China were players Vu Thi Trang and Nguyen Tien Minh. Tien Minh tried his best to play his first match in the men's singles preliminary round but it was not effective, so he lost 0-2 to Liu Yu Xuan (China).
Vu Thi Trang competed in the women's singles main round but lost 0-2 to Xu Wen Jing (China). Thus, all 3 representatives of Vietnamese badminton had to leave China this time. The Masters 2026 tournament in China has the BWF World Tour Super 100 level of the world.
At the same time, 2 players Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh competed in the 2026 Thailand Open Badminton Tournament with the BWF World Tour Super 500 level.
Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh passed the preliminary round of the men's doubles event. However, they did not have good results in the first match of the official round.
2 Vietnamese players competed against the pair of brothers Christopher Grimley, Matthew Grimley (Scotland). At the end of 2 sets, Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh lost 0-2 (8-21, 19-21).
Next week, Vietnamese badminton will have player Nguyen Thuy Linh on her way to compete in the tournament in Malaysia.
