33 SEA Games changes the location for men's football competition, U22 Vietnam urgently adjusts the plan The Organizing Committee of SEA Games 33 has just decided to change the location for men's football competition, affecting the preparation plans of many teams in the region, including U22 Vietnam.
According to the latest announcement, Group A - where the host team U22 Thailand will compete at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, instead of Songkhla as originally planned.
Rajamangala is the largest stadium in Thailand, with a capacity of more than 51,000 seats and has hosted many international tournaments. This change has caused the entire competition schedule of the remaining groups to be adjusted.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) confirmed that Group B, including U22 Vietnam, U22 Malaysia and U22 Laos, will move to compete at Tinsulanon Stadium in Songkhla province, more than 900 km from Bangkok. Group C will take place in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand.
The competition schedule of coach Kim Sang-sik and his team has also changed. The opening match against U22 Laos was postponed to December 4, one day earlier than originally planned, while the decisive match against U22 Malaysia remained the same on December 11.
According to the plan, U22 Vietnam will leave for Thailand on December 2, just 2 days before the opening match. To prepare for the 33rd SEA Games, U22 Vietnam will organize 2 important training sessions.
From November 10 to 19, the team will participate in the Panda Cup 2025 International Friendly Tournament in China, meeting strong opponents such as China U22, Uzbekistan U22 and Korea U22. This is an opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate their strength and experiment with playing style.
Then, from November 23 to November 29, the team entered the general review and training phase in Ba Ria ward (HCMC) before moving to Thailand in early December. Continuously changing the field is considered a big challenge for the teams participating in the 33rd SEA Games, especially when travel conditions and adaptation time are limited.
For U22 Vietnam, this requires the whole team to adapt quickly, maintain a high level of concentration to aim for the goal of conquering the gold medal. Under the leadership of coach Kim Sang-sik, U22 Vietnam is in the process of perfecting its squad and playing style.
Despite many difficulties in the schedule, the team is still determined, considering the 33rd SEA Games an important opportunity to affirm the position of Vietnamese youth football in the region.
