On January 12, the Congress to establish the Vietnam Kendo Federation for the first term 2025-2030 took place in Hanoi.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports said: "This Congress is of important significance, demonstrating the attention of the State, localities, and the consensus of Kendo clubs across the country.
In Vietnam, although this sport has only recently been introduced, it has developed strongly, with many clubs established with about 10,000 people. The achievements are still modest but still a positive sign at international and regional tournaments.
On behalf of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, I request the Vietnam Kendo Federation to focus on performing its tasks.
That is to proactively coordinate with localities and sectors to promote the training movement, develop in each stage; research and perfect the Kendo competition system in a comprehensive direction; promote the management role of the Federation, proactively research and build expertise, select and train athletes; promote socialization of the Federation's activities, exchange with federations around the world; elect an executive committee for the 2025-2030 term with moral qualities and prestige, creating a premise to build a development apparatus...".

Accordingly, the Congress elected the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Kendo Federation consisting of 19 members, including 1 president, 5 vice presidents and 1 general secretary.
Mr. Do Tri Nhan - Chairman of the Board of Directors of ETECH Vietnam Corporation, Deputy Director of Hung Vuong Cultural Research and Development Center is the Chairman of Vietnam Kendo Federation. Vice Chairmen are Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Huyen Trang, Mr. Pham Ngoc Phuong, Khuong Ngoc Thong, Vo Anh Nhan, Tran Tuan.
In addition, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vinh - Deputy Director of Industrial Style Company Limited is the General Secretary for the 2025 - 2030 term.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Do Tri Nhan - New President of Vietnam Kendo Federation shared: "The Congress to establish Vietnam Kendo Federation was a great success, once again affirming the correctness of the policy of socializing cultural and sports activities, while contributing to the development of the country's cultural and sports career.
The Executive Committee will absorb and concretize the organization and implementation of the tasks of the Federation in the new term."
Kendo is a martial art sport, developed from the traditional Japanese swordsmanship Kenjutsu around the 19th century. Currently, the number of Kendo practitioners worldwide is about 8 million, of which in Japan there are about 1.5 million people with a system of competitions spread from region to continent and the world.
Kendo was introduced to Vietnam and practiced before 1975. 2007 was an important milestone when Vietnamese Kendo first participated in an international tournament - the 8th Southeast Asian Kendo Championship in Thailand.
