The coaching staff of the Vietnamese wushu team said that the team's martial artists are all allowed to return to their managing units to compete in this year's tournament.
However, the 2026 National Club Championship is also a professional test for the coaching staff to select more high-performance martial artists to supplement training in taolu (performance) and tán thủ (combat) events.
The Vietnamese wushu team will have the task of competing in the most important tournament of the year, ASIAD 20 in September in Japan. At ASIAD 19, the Vietnamese wushu team won 3 bronze medals with achievements from athletes Duong Thuy Vi, Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy and Hua Van Doan.
Player Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy will participate in the 2026 National Club Championship. She won a gold medal at SEA Games 33 in Thailand last year.
The 2026 National Club Championship attracts nearly 300 martial artists from 20 teams across the country to compete. Athletes compete for all sets of medals for taolu and tán thủ in the period from April 12 to April 17.
In May, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese wushu team will send forces to participate in the 2026 World Open Cup in Macau (China). Then in July, the Vietnamese wushu team will compete in the 2026 World taolu Cup in China. After the above tournaments, Vietnamese wushu will select the best forces to participate in ASIAD 20.
