On April 15 local time, we officially enter the competition at the tournament being held in Singapore. On the competition day, the Vietnamese athletics team has Phung Thi Hue and Hoang Du Y participating in the women's 100m event.
Both Vietnamese players passed the qualifying round to participate in the distance final (including 8 people).
In the final competition, Phung Thi Hue unexpectedly took the lead to finish fastest with a time of 11 seconds 77. The result helped her win a gold medal. In the women's 100m event, athlete Hoang Du Y (Vietnam) had a result of 11 seconds 89.
The Vietnamese athletics team registered 5 athletes to participate in the 2026 Singapore Open. Vietnamese athletics faces will compete in the women's 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay events.
On the competition day, the big surprise was that Southeast Asian No. 1 athlete in the women's 100m event, Pereira Veronica (Singapore) ranked 8th. This athlete had a result of 18 seconds 17. At this year's tournament, Pereira Veronica had muscle strain and could not finish in the leading group.
The Singapore Open will compete until April 17. Phung Thi Hue's achievement is the first international medal in 2026 of the Vietnamese athletics team. In the following days, this runner will also compete in some events registered by the coaching staff.
