The Asian Women's Futsal Championship will take place in China from May 6 to 17, attracting 12 participating teams. The teams are divided into 3 groups, each group has 4 teams. The teams competed in a round-robin, selecting the top 2 teams in each group and the 2 teams in 3rd place with the best results to qualify for the quarter-finals.
The three teams with the best results in the tournament will qualify for the World Cup, scheduled to be held in the Philippines in the near future. This will be an opportunity for the Vietnam women's futsal team to make history.
The draw results put the Vietnam women's futsal team (ranked 11th in the world) in Group B with Iran, Hong Kong (China) and the Philippines.
In this group, the Iranian women's futsal team is considered the strongest team, because they are the champions of the two previous Asian tournaments, held in 2015 and 2018. In the semi-finals of the 2018 Asian Women's Futsal Championship, the Vietnam women's futsal team lost 0-5 to Iran.
With current strength, the Vietnam women's futsal team will find it difficult to compete with the West Asian team. Therefore, the team's most practical goal is to compete for second place in the group with Hong Kong (China) and the Philippines.
The defeat of these two opponents is within the reach of Vietnam Women's Futsal. On the rankings, Hong Kong (China) - 29th in the world and the Philippines - 55th in the world is quite far behind Vietnam. At the 2024 Southeast Asian Futsal tournament, Vietnam Women's Futsal has won the Philippines 6-1.

To prepare for the 2025 Asian futsal tournament, the Vietnamese women's futsal team has been carefully prepared by training in Japan and playing friendly matches in China. The team has had a lot of time to get used to the pitch, weather, climate, and improve in many aspects compared to the qualifying round.
According to the schedule, the Vietnam women's futsal team will have their opening match against Hong Kong (China) taking place at 4:00 p.m. (Vietnam time) on May 7. The result of this match will greatly affect the chances of Thanh Hang and her teammates advancing.
Evaluating the opponents in the group, coach of the Vietnam women's futsal team Nguyen Dinh Hoang said: "No matter how difficult it is, our goal is still to win a place to participate in the World Cup, but first of all, we must pass the group stage. This is a relatively balanced group and all teams have opportunities. We will be determined to win a ticket to the quarter-finals first.
In history, the Vietnam men's futsal team has participated in the FIFA Futsal World Cup twice in 2016 and 2021. In both tournaments, the Vietnam men's futsal team passed the group stage, then stopped at the round of 16. With the progress of the Vietnam women's futsal team in recent times, fans expect them to make history.
