On the afternoon of February 25, the Vietnamese women's futsal team entered an important match against the Philippines women's futsal team in the framework of the group stage of the 2026 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship. After the defeat in the opening match against Australia, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's team was forced to win to nurture hopes of going further.
Right after the opening whistle, the Philippines entered the game proactively and created some situations to put pressure on goalkeeper Ngo Thi Thuy Linh's goal. However, the Vietnamese women's futsal team was the one who took advantage of the opportunity better.
In the 15th minute, Le Thi Thanh Ngan had an impressive solo dribble before finishing accurately, opening the score for the Vietnamese women's futsal team. A few minutes earlier, this player herself could not successfully utilize the penalty when she was blocked by goalkeeper Samantha Hughes.
Stepping into the second half, the Philippines pushed up the squad to find an equalizer. However, the solidity of the defense and the stable form of goalkeeper Thuy Linh helped the Vietnamese women's futsal team stand firm against the opponent's pressure.
In the 36th minute, after many attacking efforts, Bien Thi Hang launched a decisive shot, sealing a 2-0 victory for the Vietnamese women's futsal team.
In the remaining minutes, the Philippines created some notable opportunities, even having a situation where the ball hit the crossbar. However, the Vietnamese women's futsal team still maintained the advantage to win all 3 points.
This victory helps the Vietnamese women's futsal team improve their position in the group, and at the same time continue to maintain the opportunity to compete for a ticket to the next round at the 2026 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship. In the next round, the Vietnamese women's futsal team will face Myanmar tomorrow (February 26).
