In the last match taking place on the evening of April 8, coach Diego Giustozzi's team lost to the Thai futsal team with a score of 2-4. This result prevented the Vietnamese futsal team from holding the top spot in the group even though they had previously won 2 consecutive matches against Myanmar and Timor-Leste.
In the first half, the Thai futsal team took advantage of set pieces to score 2 consecutive goals, creating a 2-0 lead. In the second half, the Golden Temple team continued to increase the score to 3-0 before the Vietnamese futsal team made efforts to narrow the gap thanks to goals from Tu Minh Quang and Da Hai.
In the final minutes of the match, the Vietnam futsal team deployed a power-play tactic to find an equalizer. However, the red shirt team could not take advantage of the opportunity and also conceded another goal after an own goal, thereby accepting a final 2-4 defeat.
Although unable to win the top spot in Group A, the Vietnam futsal team still completed the goal of winning a ticket to the semi-finals with second place in the group. The next opponent of coach Diego Giustozzi's team is the Indonesia futsal team - the team that won Group B.
Indonesia is considered an opponent with a physical and fast playing style, promising to create a big challenge for the Vietnamese futsal team in the competition for a ticket to the final.
The semi-final match between the Vietnamese and Indonesian futsal teams taking place on April 10 is expected to take place with a balanced match as both teams have shown stable form since the beginning of the tournament.
