The coaching staff of the Vietnam Karate Team sent Nguyen Ngoc Tram, Hoang Thi Thu Uyen, and Bui Ngoc Nhi to train in Japan to enhance their expertise towards ASIAD 20.
The training program will start from August 14. Female kata fighters of the Vietnam Karate Team will be trained for nearly 4 weeks in Japan under the professional supervision of coach Do Thi Thu Ha.
The goal of the women's kata team of the Vietnam Karate Team is to strive to win a gold medal at ASIAD 20.
Three years ago, we won a gold medal at ASIAD 19 in Hangzhou (China) in the women's team kata event.
The three martial artists who participated in the team performance to win the championship at that time were Nguyen Ngoc Tram, Luu Thi Thu Uyen, Nguyen Thi Phuong.
After 3 years, two martial artists Luu Thi Thu Uyen and Nguyen Thi Phuong are no longer participating in the women's kata team of the Vietnam Karate Team.
Recently, 3 martial artists Nguyen Ngoc Tram, Hoang Thi Thu Uyen, Bui Ngoc Nhi won gold medals in the women's team kata event at the 2026 Southeast Asian Championship held in Ninh Binh.
Previously, they participated in the 2026 Asian Championship in Indonesia.
Experts predict that the competition events in karate at ASIAD 20 will face fierce competition because the host Japanese martial artist maintains a professional advantage.
Therefore, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese karate team hopes that female kata martial artists training in Japan before ASIAD 20 will improve their level and competitive spirit effectively.
