The Vietnamese women's team is placed in the second seed group, along with China and South Korea.
Group 1 includes Australia (host), Japan and the DPRK; Group 3 includes the Philippines, Taiwan (China) and Uzbekistan; Group 4 includes Iran, India and Bangladesh.
The 12 teams in the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship finals are divided into 3 groups, each group consisting of 4 teams, competing in a round-robin. The top two teams in each group and the two third-placed teams with the best results will qualify for the quarter-finals.
The tournament is also a direct qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil. The six teams with the best results in the tournament will qualify directly for the World Cup, including four teams that qualified for the semi-finals and two teams that won the play-off for four teams that lost in the quarter-finals. The two teams ranked 7th and 8th will compete in the intercontinental play-off round organized by FIFA.
Currently, the team is training in Quang Ninh to prepare for the 2025 Southeast Asian tournament, taking place in early August.
