On the competition day July 30 local time, the Vietnamese chess team won a gold medal in the men's blitz chess category at the 2026 Asian Rapid and Blitz Championships.
The blitz chess event of the men's group competed in 13 sets according to the Swiss system. Le Tuan Minh of Vietnam won the championship when he won a total of 11 points after the sets.
In the decisive set, set 13, Le Tuan Minh met his junior Dau Khuong Duy in his competition and won despite playing black.
In the men's blitz chess rankings, the runner-up is chess player Goutham Krishna H (India, 11 points) and the third place is Jiang Haochen (China, 9.5 points).
In women's blitz chess, player Pham Le Thao Nguyen was the best player of Vietnam with a total of 9 points after 13 games and ranked 5th.
Champion of the event was Dronavalli Harika (India) with 10.5 points.
In the blitz chess event, Vietnamese chess players made efforts to compete in the men's and women's groups but did not have a final medal. Dinh Nho Kiet is the Vietnamese male chess player with the best position after 11 games with 8 points, ranked 4th.
Meanwhile, Pham Le Thao Nguyen won a women's rapid chess bronze medal when ranked 3rd with a result of 8 points after 11 games. Thao Nguyen had 7 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses in her competition.
