On July 5th, Nguyen Le Cam Hien and Quang Ninh chess players competed in the final set of blitz chess (set 9) at the 2026 National Youth Chess Championship held at Bac Giang ward gymnasium (Bac Ninh).
On her table, Cam Hien played white and drew against chess player Bui Tuyet Hoa in game 9.
With this result, Cam Hien won a total of 7.5 points through 9 games to get a gold medal. She maintained an unbeaten streak with 6 wins, 3 draws in her turns.
This is Cam Hien's first gold medal at this year's tournament.
Since being discovered in the young chess world of Vietnam, Cam Hien has been known as the female chess prodigy of Vietnam.
She grew up in a traditional chess family environment with her father being grandmaster Nguyen Anh Dung. One day before that, Cam Hien competed in rapid chess but only reached 6th place in the U20 women's group.
Also in the U20 women's blitz chess group, the runner-up belonged to player Nguyen Binh Vy (Hanoi) with 7 points and the third place was Nguyen Ngoc Hien (Ninh Binh, 7 points).
In the U20 men's blitz chess group, the champion is player Pham Cong Minh (Ninh Binh) thanks to a result of 7.5 points through 9 matches. Master Nguyen Quoc Hy (HCMC) is in second place with 7 points.
In the blitz chess event, a surprise took place in the U17 men's group when international champion Bang Gia Huy (Hanoi) ranked 4th with 7 points after 9 games.
The champion of this group is international grandmaster Dinh Nho Kiet (Hanoi, 7.5 points).
After the rapid chess and blitz chess events, the chess players of the tournament will continue to compete in traditional chess and standard chess on July 12.
