The Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center - Institute of Earth Sciences (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) has just issued information about an earthquake.
Accordingly, at about 19 hours 44 minutes 45 seconds (Hanoi time) on July 30, an earthquake with magnitude M = 3.6 occurred at a location with coordinates (22.926° North latitude – 105.664° East longitude), focal depth of about 10 km. The earthquake occurred in the area of Bao Lac commune, Cao Bang province. Disaster risk level: 0.
In addition to earthquakes in Cao Bang, today there were also 2 earthquakes with magnitudes of 2.7 - 2.8 respectively in Mang Ri commune, Quang Ngai province. The earthquakes all had disaster risk level 0.
Unlike earthquakes in Cao Bang, earthquakes in Quang Ngai are induced earthquakes, closely related to the water storage activities of reservoirs. From 2021 to now, induced earthquakes have frequently occurred in this area, including over 20 occurrences per day.
The Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center is continuing to monitor these earthquakes.
Talking to reporters, a representative of Bao Lac Commune People's Committee confirmed the information and assessed that there is a possibility that an earthquake has just occurred in the area.
According to a representative of Bao Lac Commune People's Committee, at the time of the phenomenon, people heard a loud explosion, followed by clear shaking.
First there was a loud explosion, then very strong vibrations. Houses from 2 floors upwards all felt the shaking very clearly," said a representative of Bao Lac Commune People's Committee.
Recorded from people, Mr. Trieu Van Chien (Bao Lac commune) said that when his family was eating rice, the whole house suddenly shook.
My family was eating rice when the tremors occurred, the whole house shook. By now everything has stabilized, but everyone is still quite worried," Mr. Chien shared.
According to Bao Lac Commune People's Committee, through initial inspection, key projects in the area have not recorded damage or impact due to vibrations.
For some other areas, local authorities are continuing to contact and review to collect statistics, grasp the situation and determine damage (if any).
