During the training process to prepare for the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Championship finals, Vietnam U20 women's team had a practice match with Ho Chi Minh City I women's team in Tay Ninh.
In this match, U20 Vietnam women's team entered the game proactively and soon created an advantage. In the 23rd minute, player Nguyen Thi Quy took advantage of an attack on the left wing to score the opening goal, after the opponent's defense unclearly cleared the ball.
However, the TPHCM I women's club quickly responded. In the 37th minute, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan scored to equalize 1-1, bringing the match back to balance before the first half ended.
In the second half, the game continued to be exciting. In the 68th minute, Tuyet Ngan took advantage of a mistake from an inaccurate pass back from the U20 Vietnam women's midfield to score a goal to increase the score to 2-1 for the TPHCM I women's club.
In the end, Vietnam U20 women's team lost 1-2 in the practice match in Tay Ninh. According to the plan, the whole team will have two more practice matches in Ho Chi Minh City before heading to Thailand to participate in the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Championship finals.
