According to the schedule, U23 Vietnam is in Group A and will successively face U23 Jordan on January 6, U23 Kyrgyzstan on January 9, before closing the group stage with a match against the host U23 Saudi Arabia on January 12.
Before going to Saudi Arabia, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team had a training camp in Qatar to improve their expertise and stabilize their forces. During this time, U23 Vietnam had a friendly match with U23 Syria on December 30. This is considered an important opportunity for the coaching staff to assess the performance of the players, review the squad and adjust the playing style before the official tournament.

On the same morning, U23 Vietnam left Doha and moved to Jeddah city, located in western Saudi Arabia. The flight lasted about 2 hours. During training in Qatar, the weather in Doha was quite cold, fluctuating from 11 to 18 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the weather conditions in Jeddah are forecast to be warmer, with temperatures of about 20-30 degrees Celsius, suitable for the team's training and competition activities.
According to the plan, U23 Vietnam will land at Jeddah airport at about 12:30 pm (local time). From the airport to the hotel, the team travels for about 20 minutes. Coach Kim Sang-sik will base on the physical condition of the players as well as the time frame of the day to decide whether the whole team will conduct training or not. If conditions are favorable, U23 Vietnam will have its first training session in Jeddah at 6:30 pm on the same day.
