Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, chaired the Conference.
Looking back at 2025, leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism assessed that the Vietnam Olympic Committee has performed many professional tasks and achieved remarkable results.
In the past year, with high-performance sports, Vietnamese sports has participated in many notable international Games including the Asian Youth Games, SEA Games 33, ASEAN Para Games 13.
In addition, the Vietnam Olympic Committee continues to strengthen Olympic cooperation relations with international sports organizations, Federations, Sports Associations, national/territorial Olympic Committees at the regional, continental and world levels. We have sought support from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Asian Olympic Council (OCA) through programs, events, and courses. Office operating expenses are sponsored by OCA, IOC, helping to implement the operating plan of the Vietnam Olympic Committee in 2026.
Minister, Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that taking Olympic sports and events as the center of high-performance sports development is a suitable direction.
This approach brings clear results, as shown in the SEA Games 33 achievements. At SEA Games 33 in Thailand, we won 87 gold medals, and more than 80% of the gold medals belonged to Olympic sports. This result will create a solid premise to help Vietnamese sports confidently move towards continental and world arenas.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung requested the viewpoint of the sports sector in 2026 to continue to take people as the center, subject and goal of development. The Vietnam Olympic Committee continues to coordinate with the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports to advise the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on many programs according to the development plan.
In 2026, Vietnam's high-performance sports will focus forces to participate in 4 major international Games including the 2026 Asian Beach Games in China, ASIAD 20 in Japan, the 2026 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Saudi Arabia, and the 2026 Youth Olympics in Senegal.
