Wushu martial artist Thu Thuy wins gold medal at the 2026 World Open Cup

The Vietnamese wushu athlete finished the 2026 World Open Cup with the best result of 3 gold medals.

Sanda World Cup 2026 - Sanda World Cup 2026 ended on May 15 in Macau (China).

In this year's competition, martial artist Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy is one of the faces in outstanding form to win a gold medal in the women's 56kg weight class for the Vietnamese wushu team.

In addition to the above results, the Vietnamese wushu team also won gold medals in the men's 70kg weight class (Truong Van Chuong) and men's 52kg class (Dinh Van Tam).

Meanwhile, three boxers Hua Van Doan, Ngo Thi Phuong Nga and Nguyen Thi Lan won silver medals due to losing in the final.

The 2026 World Open Cup is a wushu sparring program organized by the World Wushu Federation. This year is the 11th time the tournament has taken place. The tournament organizes 17 weight classes for male and female athletes to compete. Among them, male athletes competed in 11 events and female athletes competed in 6 weight classes.

In this year's tournament, the Vietnamese wushu team registered 6 athletes to compete and all 6 entered the final in their event. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy is one of the martial artists with good expertise that Vietnamese women's wushu possesses.

Last year at the 2025 World Shaman Cup, the Vietnamese Wushu Team had gold medal winning fighters Dinh Van Tam, Huynh Do Dat, Nguyen Thi Lan and Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy.
