At 9:00 PM on August 28, 2026, world oil prices simultaneously decreased. Accordingly, WTI oil price was at 82.53 USD/barrel, down 1 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 1.2%. Brent oil was at 87.62 USD/barrel, down 0.9 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 1.02%.
The world oil market continues to struggle between geopolitical risks and signs of supply improvement. In the short term, oil prices are likely to fluctuate sharply according to developments in US-Iran relations, especially the circulation situation through the Strait of Hormuz.
If transportation through Hormuz continues to be restricted, oil prices will be supported by concerns about supply disruptions. Conversely, any positive signals from negotiation efforts and the restoration of traffic through this strategic shipping route could cause oil prices to fall.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the world gasoline and oil market in this operating period is affected by key factors such as: US economic pressure on Iran; Iran and Oman exchanging and discussing details of agreements related to controlling the Ormuz Strait; military conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, continuing to focus heavily on energy facilities, oil refineries... The above factors have caused world finished gasoline and oil prices in recent days to increase and decrease depending on the item.
The selling prices of popular consumer gasoline and oil items in the domestic market in the operating period on August 28 are as follows:
- E5 RON92 gasoline: not higher than 21,763 VND/liter, 839 VND/liter lower than E10RON95-III gasoline;
- E10 RON95-III gasoline: not higher than 22,602 VND/liter;
- Diesel oil 0.05S: not higher than 28,084 VND/liter;
- 180CST 3.5S mazut oil: not higher than 18,140 VND/kg.
