Prices recovered strongly after the US announced a 10% reduction in coffee import tax from Vietnam, much lower than the previously worried 46%.
Overview and assessment
Coffee prices are gradually recovering after the US decided to lower the import tax rate from Vietnam to 10%. This is positive information for Vietnamese farmers, especially in the context of them taking the initiative to pick up goods because they are worried about the tight supply over the past four years. This tax cut is seen as a temporary lift in the escalating trade war.
However, investors and farmers also need to closely monitor market fluctuations to make reasonable decisions in the coming time.
World coffee prices may continue to increase in the coming time if there are no unexpected factors. However, harsh weather is one of the main factors that can affect global coffee output, especially in key producing countries such as Brazil and Vietnam.
