Domestic coffee prices
The domestic market today was filled with green as purchasing prices in key Central Highlands regions increased simultaneously.
On average, coffee prices in the whole region have reached 114,500 VND/kg. Of which, Dak Nong (old) recorded the strongest increase of 1,300 VND/kg, taking the lead at 114,800 VND/kg.
In Dak Lak, the price also increased by VND 1,200/kg, reaching VND 114,700/kg. Gia Lai and Lam Dong provinces are also not out of the trend when they both increased by VND 1,000/kg, bringing the trading price to VND 114,000/kg and VND 113,500/kg respectively.
World coffee prices
In the world market, the London Robusta exchange has become a "bright star" leading the overall increase.
At the end of the trading session, Robusta futures for January 2026 increased by 115 USD/ton, equivalent to an increase of 2.55%, closing at 4,631 USD/ton.
The New York Arabica exchange also responded to this increase but at a more modest level, with the December 2025 term increasing by 1.80 cents/lb, closing at 406.50 cents/lb.
Coffee price assessment and forecast
The main reason for Robusta's strong increase today comes from concerns about the weather in Vietnam. Reports show that heavy rains occurred in the Central Highlands region, especially Dak Lak province, causing significant obstacles to the harvest progress of the new crop. Prolonged rain not only slows down the picking and drying process but also raises concerns about the quality of coffee beans, causing speculators to quickly buy them to prevent the risk of short-term supply shortages.
In addition to weather factors, the scarcity of inventories on international exchanges is still a solid support for coffee prices. The latest data shows that Arabica inventories on the ICE have fallen to a 1.75-year low, while Robusta inventories have also hit a 4-month low. In addition, problems surrounding US import tariffs on Brazilian goods are still tightening supply chains, forcing roasters to actively seek real sources of goods.
In the current context, the market is expected to continue to develop unpredictably and depend largely on the weather. If heavy rains continue in Vietnam, the increase in coffee prices, especially Robusta, will be further strengthened as concerns about supply disruption increase. However, the pressure from the new harvest is still a factor that holds back prices, preventing prices from rising too high in the long term.
