Causes and predictions
In general, the pig price market on March 11 was stable in the Central region and fluctuated slightly in the Northern and Southern regions.
Many farmers believe that the long-term fluctuation of the price of live pigs may be a sign that the market has reached its peak and is unlikely to increase further in the near future. However, due to the lack of a quick recovery in supply, the downward pressure is not really clear, causing high prices to remain in the market.
According to the report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, since the beginning of the year, there have been 45 African swine fever outbreaks nationwide, down 67% over the same period last year. However, the number of infected pigs was 4,331, an increase of 10%; the number of dead and destroyed pigs was 4,393, an increase of 2%. Currently, there are still 26 outbreaks nationwide in 17 districts of 11 provinces and cities that have not been controlled for 21 days.
