World pepper price
In the world market, pepper prices fluctuated in opposite directions in some countries. The two items of black and white pepper in Indonesia reversed to increase in price, trading in the range of 7,117 - 9,186 USD/ton (equivalent to 187,960 VND/kg - 242,603 VND/kg), increasing by 66 USD/ton and 86 USD/ton respectively.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian market is holding at 5,950 USD/ton (about 157,140 VND/kg). Notably, black and white peppers from Malaysia are still trading at high prices, at 12,250 USD/ton and 9,350 USD/ton respectively.
In Vietnam's pepper export market, the price of black pepper of 500 g/l and 550 g/l remains unchanged at 6,100 - 6,200 USD/ton. In the same direction, ASTA white pepper is offered for sale at 9,000 USD/ton (equivalent to 237,690 VND/kg).

Assessments and forecasts
Compared to the same period in 2025, domestic pepper prices have decreased the most by 13,000 VND/kg, when domestic pepper prices exceeded the 150,000 VND/kg mark.
Preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA) show that Vietnam's pepper exports in May 2026 reached 25,180 tons, worth 166.2 million USD, down 18.9% in volume and 13.9% in value compared to the previous month. The main reason comes from China's sharp decrease in import demand, reaching only 1,512 tons, down 66.8% compared to April 2026, pulling the total export volume down.
Although pepper prices at the current level still ensure stable revenue for farmers, but with the pressure from increasingly expensive farming costs and harvesting labor, gardeners need to carefully consider between selling immediately or continuing to store goods waiting for prices.
