Assessment and forecast
According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), at this time, the domestic pepper market still does not have a clear price increase momentum due to slow consumption and the waiting mentality of traders. However, in the world market, prices remain high thanks to limited supply after harvest and increased demand from major markets such as the Middle East and Europe in the second quarter of 2025.
The world market remains stable and demand is expected to increase in the second quarter, helping to maintain high export prices. In the second quarter, pepper is subject to a 10% tax rate in the US, but by the third quarter, the tax rate in this market may increase to over 25% - 30%, causing Vietnamese pepper to lose competitiveness in the US market.
