Domestic pepper prices: Unprecedented drop
As of 11:30 today (September 19), the domestic pepper market has decreased dramatically, an average decrease of 5,200 VND/kg. Currently, the purchase price of pepper is recorded at 127,500 - 129,000 VND/kg.
Key provinces and cities such as Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong are anchored at 128,000 VND/kg, down 5,000 - 6,000 VND/kg respectively. Meanwhile, Dak Lak province is the province with the highest purchasing price in the country at 129,000 VND/kg, although the price was reduced by up to 5,000 VND/kg compared to the previous session.
Gia Lai province alone has decreased sharply, bringing the price to 127,500 VND/kg.
This is a sharp decrease reflecting short-term pressure on the domestic market, while export prices are stable at 6,000 - 6,100 USD/ton.

World pepper prices: Unexpectedly stable
In the world market, pepper prices have stabilized after a day of strong fluctuations. The Indonesian exchange - one of the most vibrant markets is no exception. Currently, these two items are listed at 7,506 USD/ton (equivalent to 197,228 VND/kg). In the same direction, white pepper was listed at 10,139 USD/ton (about 266,413 VND/kg).
In Vietnam, the export price of black pepper of 500 g/l and 550 g/l fluctuated sideways, fluctuating between 6,000 - 6,100 USD/ton. ASTA white pepper prices reached 9,000 USD/ton (equivalent to 236,484 VND/kg).
The Brazilian exchange rate is stable, this region is currently at 6,050 USD/ton (about 158,970 VND/kg). Malaysia's white rice continues to hold the highest price globally at 11,850 USD/ton (equivalent to 311,371 VND/kg).

Assessment and forecast
According to information from the Vietnam Customs Department, in May 2025, our country's pepper exports reached 26,328 tons, bringing in 182.28 million USD, with an average price of 6,923 USD/ton.
Compared to last month, pepper exports have decreased by 0.4% in volume, turnover decreased by 1% and prices decreased by 0.6%. However, compared to the same period last year, the export volume decreased by 15.3%, but the turnover value increased by 30.6%, and the price increased by 54.26%.
Since the beginning of the year, in the first 5 months of 2025, the total amount of pepper exported has reached 99,922 tons, equivalent to more than 690.43 million USD, with an average price of 6,910 USD/ton. Although export volumes decreased by 12.5%, turnover and prices both recorded growth of 40.5% and 60.5% respectively over the same period in 2024.
