Domestic pepper prices: Unexpected reversal to increase
As of 11:30 today (September 28), domestic pepper prices are trading in the range of 148,000 - 150,000 VND/kg, an average increase of 400 VND/kg compared to last week depending on the region.
At the end of last week, Dak Lak and Lam Dong had opposite developments. While Dak Lak maintained a high price of VND150,000/kg, Lam Dong decreased by VND1,000/kg last week, down to VND149,000/kg.
On the contrary, pepper prices in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai increased and decreased by VND 1,000/kg, respectively, at VND 148,000/kg and VND 150,000/kg.
At the same rate as the increase of VND 1,000/kg, Gia Lai pepper prices fluctuated at the lowest level at VND 148,000/kg.

World pepper prices: intertwined increases and decreases
According to the International Pepper Company (IPC), world pepper prices fluctuated in different directions last week.
Of which, Indonesia's black pepper price decreased by 82 USD/ton compared to last week and is currently trading at 6,945 USD/ton. In the same direction, the price of Indonesian white pepper decreased to 116 USD/ton, down to 9,841 USD/ton.
In the same direction, Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper decreased by 100 USD/ton, down to 6,500 USD/ton.
Meanwhile, Vietnam's export black pepper prices remain unchanged, remaining at a high price range, anchored at 6,600 - 6,800 USD/ton for the 500 g/l and 550 g/l types. Vietnam's white sugar is unchanged at 9,250 USD/ton.
In particular, ASTA Malaysia's black and white pepper prices recorded alternate increases and decreases of 100 USD/ton over the past week, trading at 9,600 USD/ton and 13,000 USD/ton, respectively.
