Basic commodity supply stable
According to a report by the Hanoi Market Management Department (QLTT), in September 2026, the demand for shopping, consumption and service use in the area increased at some times due to the National Day of September 2nd, the opening of the new school year 2026-2027 and preparation activities to serve the Mid-Autumn Festival.
However, the commodity market in general is still stable, the supply of essential goods is guaranteed, circulation activities are normal, and there is no shortage of goods or unreasonable price increases on a large scale.
According to the Hanoi Market Management Department, in September, the weather had many unfavorable developments, heavy rain and localized flooding affected traffic, transportation and goods circulation. Prices of livestock, poultry, seafood and most essential foods were basically stable.
For some types of green vegetables and spices, prices at times increased due to supply from affected growing areas, and harvesting and transportation were difficult.
For gasoline and oil, retail prices in the reporting period tend to increase through operating periods. From 3:00 PM on September 3, 2026, E5RON92 gasoline increased to 22,486 VND/liter, E10RON95-III gasoline to 23,274 VND/liter; diesel oil decreased to 27,743 VND/liter and mazut oil to 17,641 VND/kg.
By the operating period on September 10, 2026, the prices of gasoline and oil products continued to be adjusted to increase simultaneously. E5RON92 gasoline increased to 23,744 VND/liter, E10RON95-III gasoline increased to 24,239 VND/liter, diesel oil increased to 28,485 VND/liter and mazut oil increased to 18,157 VND/kg.
According to the Hanoi Market Management Department, the re-increase in gasoline prices creates certain pressure on transportation costs, production, business and circulation of goods.
Through monitoring, gasoline and oil business activities in the city in the month basically took place normally, supply was guaranteed, and no situation of speculation, hoarding goods, selling in small drops, arbitrarily reducing sales time or interrupting supply was recorded.
More than 5 billion VND in fines, goods forced to be destroyed increase
In September 2026, the Hanoi Market Management Department inspected 426 cases, a decrease of 136 cases, equivalent to about 24.2% compared to August. Of which, 412 cases were unscheduled inspections, accounting for about 96.7% of the total number of inspections.
The Market Management force handled 430 violations, a decrease of 83 cases, equivalent to about 16.2% compared to the previous month; transferred 9 cases with signs of crime to the investigating agency.
The total amount of administrative violation fines reached over 5.093 billion VND, down about 0.9%; the value of confiscated goods was over 465 million VND, down about 42.3%. Meanwhile, the value of goods forced to be destroyed and to remedy consequences reached over 2.357 billion VND, up about 13.8%.
Violations in the month mainly focused on acts of infringing intellectual property rights, trading in smuggled goods, goods of unknown origin. Regarding the group of goods, noteworthy are food, Mid-Autumn cakes, confectionery and children's toys.
Hanoi Market Management Department assessed that although the number of inspections and handling cases decreased compared to the previous month, the value of fines only decreased slightly, while the value of goods forced to be destroyed and remedied increased.
Violations continue to focus on groups of goods infringing intellectual property rights, smuggled goods, goods of unknown origin, food and e-commerce activities.
In the coming time, the Market Management force determines to continue to closely monitor supply and demand, commodity prices; strengthen inspection of essential goods, goods serving the Mid-Autumn Festival and gasoline and oil business activities.
After the Mid-Autumn Festival, the focus of monitoring will gradually shift to groups of goods with high consumer demand in the late year such as clothing, household goods, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, frozen food and auto parts.
At the same time, warehouses and gathering points in Linh Nam, Dong Xuan market, Long Bien market... continue to be noted due to the risk of arising smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, goods infringing intellectual property rights and goods of unknown origin.
In addition, before the possibility of heavy rain continuing to affect the supply of green vegetables, spices and some types of vegetables, tubers, and fruits, the Hanoi Market Management Department said that it will closely monitor supply and demand, prices, especially at wholesale markets and people's markets, to promptly handle cases of taking advantage of market fluctuations to speculate, hoard goods or increase prices unreasonably.
