Consumer psychology
After a social media account accused a store of CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company of "sending" dirty pork to the market, the reporter spent many days recording the views of Can Tho City residents. Accordingly, most consumers should be cautious, vigilant and have differentiation in choosing pork products.
A part of consumers tend to "turn their backs" on CP. Vietnam products and look for other sources of pork supply, such as the family of Ms. Ngo Thi K.D (Hung Loi ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city). Ms. K.D said that she was quite worried because she used to buy meat from this brand for use. Current information is showing the disadvantages of C.P, but above all, it directly affects the health of consumers.
"In the past few days, before buying meat anywhere, I have carefully checked the expiration date, learned the origin, and the safe farming process" - Ms. K.D said.

The family of Ms. Le Thi Tuyen (Can Tho City) then moved to buy meat at Tan An market (Ninh Kieu district). Ms. Tuyen said that the meat at the market is easy to observe with the naked eye, using your hands to check the elasticity to recognize the deliciousness, somewhat limiting the consumption of poor quality pigs.
As for Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc (Binh Thuy district), the family's policy is to limit eating pork, instead of eggs, chicken and beef.

A few Can Tho people still buy CP products such as chicken and sausages because they believe in the company's reputation. "We are eagerly waiting for official information from the authorities, in case C.P has dirty pork as the whistleblower said, I am really worried".
According to some people, the incident also caused a gap in the quality control capacity and transparency of the entire food industry.
Small traders suffer consequences
From June 2, according to our records, some distribution units in Can Tho City have temporarily stopped trading in products of CP Company.
Meanwhile, on June 3 and 4, traders at traditional markets said that the situation of pork trading in recent days has been quite gloomy, with some stalls reporting signs of declining purchasing power.
After more than 20 years of selling pork at Tan An market - a unit market in Can Tho city, Ms. Nguyen Xuan Loc (Ninh Kieu district) said that the media crisis related to pork makes traders more cautious in ensuring a clean supply to serve consumers.
"I sell fresh meat, and return any meat with an unusual color. We also raise awareness of protecting public health, not for profit" - Ms. Loc informed reporters.

Ms. Pham Thi Nghi (a trader at Tan An market) believes that losing trust is losing everything, so we must quickly regain the trust of customers.
"I just hope that the authorities will further strengthen inspection, control, and regulations more strictly, while strictly handling violations so that consumers can shop and retail with peace of mind and do business smoothly" - Ms. Nghi proposed.
