On the afternoon of May 6, the Department of Overseas Labor Management (Ministry of Home Affairs) said that on May 5, this agency received a report from the Vietnam Labor Management Board in Taiwan (China) about the death of 3 workers in Taiwan (China).
The report said that at 10:00 p.m. on May 3, the police of Duong Mai district, Dao Vien city discovered N.T.H (22 years old), T.V.D (27 years old), N.V.L (23 years old) and a Vietnamese student dead in a rented apartment in the area.
When the authorities arrived at the scene, the hot water bottle in the apartment was still operating while the digital doors were all closed. There were no injuries on the victims' bodies.
Also according to the Department of Overseas Labor Management, out of 3 deceased workers, 2 were illegal workers.
The victim went to Taiwan (China) on August 2, 2017, and had to withdraw from the contract on April 25, 2019. Laborers L until May 26, 2024, withdrawal of the contract on April 25, 2025.
As for victim H, he is a legal worker, going to Taiwan (China) to work from December 30, 2024.
According to the preliminary investigation, the 4 victims died from suffocation due to gas. The case is being further investigated and clarified by the authorities of Taiwan (China).
To ensure the legitimate rights and interests of workers, the Department of Overseas Labor Management has issued an official dispatch requesting labor dispatching companies to notify, express condolences and encourage relatives of the deceased workers.
Enterprises are required to closely coordinate with Taiwanese (Chinese) partners and relevant authorities to support relatives in completing procedures to Taiwan (China) or authorize enterprises to carry out post-production work, bringing the bodies and assets of workers back to the country according to the wishes of the family, according to the law.
In particular, the Department of Overseas Labor Management recommends that businesses urgently work with partners and employers to fully pay salaries, bonuses, allowances, insurance and other welfare regimes for employees (if any).
The management agency also guides and supports relatives of workers to carry out procedures to receive benefits from the Overseas Employment Support Fund according to regulations.
Enterprises closely coordinate with partners, employers and competent authorities of Taiwan (China) in investigating and verifying the cause of employee death for handling and settlement in accordance with the provisions of law.
