The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to study and supplement sanctions for those who take advantage of their reputation to advertise false information.

On the morning of May 14, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting with ministries, branches and central agencies to assess the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, intellectual property violations, and goods origin in the first months of 2025 and the direction and tasks for the coming time.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister assigned specific tasks to ministries, branches and localities.

In particular, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to study and supplement sanctions to handle those who take advantage of their reputation to advertise untruthfully, especially on the internet; and work with relevant agencies to prevent untrue advertisements like "medicines for many diseases".

The Ministry of Justice coordinates with ministries and branches to promote, supplement and perfect institutions for management and promote production and business development.

The Ministry of Science and Technology urgently reviews, amends and supplements regulations related to intellectual property, adjusts newly arising issues, especially in the digital environment and e-commerce; strengthens inspection and handling of organizations and individuals who violate and publish untrue products.

The People's Committees of provinces and cities direct market management forces to strictly handle violations in the area; pay attention to socio-economic development, especially in remote areas and border areas; together with border guards and police forces, strengthen strict management at the border, ensure social order and safety, control and prevent smuggling, counterfeit goods and counterfeit goods across the border.

The Prime Minister also requested that a movement be launched to compete in fighting against smuggling, trade fraud, production, and circulation of counterfeit goods, counterfeit goods, copyright infringement, and intellectual property infringement.

At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that agencies need to have high determination, great efforts, drastic and effective actions, focus, key points, clearly assign 6: "Clear people, clear work, clear time, clear responsibilities, clear authority, clear products" in this work.

Recently, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued 2 decisions to sanction administrative violations No. 148/QD-XPHC and No. 149/QD-XPHC against Mr. Tran Quang Minh (BTV Quang Minh) and Ms. Nguyen Thanh Van (MC Van Hugo), due to violations in advertising activities.

In addition to being fined, both BTV Quang Minh and MC Van Hugo must take remedial measures such as deleting advertisements and forcing information to be corrected for violations.
