On December 1, right after the State-level welcoming ceremony was solemnly held at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong held talks with King of Brunei Darussalam Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
At the meeting, President Luong Cuong and King Haji Hassanal Bolkiah discussed and evaluated bilateral cooperation and regional and international issues of mutual concern.
President Luong Cuong and King Haji Hassanal Bolkiah affirmed that the economic relationship between the two countries still has great potential and room; agreed to closely coordinate to double two-way trade turnover as soon as possible, through measures to promote trade and investment, enhance business connections, exchange information on policies and markets, promote cooperation in new areas such as digital economy, green transformation, circular economy, etc.
Vietnam encourages Brunei investors to participate in projects such as building an international financial center, infrastructure, energy, tourism and services in Vietnam.

Brunei agreed to share experiences with Vietnam in the field of Halal, consider mutual recognition of Halal certificates, and develop Halal food and product production projects in Vietnam.
The two sides also agreed that Brunei will continue to facilitate Vietnamese companies in providing oil and gas services and participating in oil and gas exploration and search and exploration activities in Brunei's waters; encourage Bruneiese corporations to invest in oil and gas exploration and exploitation in Vietnam.
The two leaders affirmed the importance of defense and security cooperation in the context of many challenges in the region, agreed to share experiences and expand cooperation in preventing organized crimes such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal migration, terrorism, cybercrime and money laundering.
The two sides also considered that marine cooperation is an important area to promote in the coming time, welcomed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Fisheries sector and the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Use of Heat Lines to Exchange Information on Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing; agreed to effectively implement agreements, dialogues and experience and information sharing, as well as resolve security challenges at sea to ensure security and safety at sea.
Regarding the East Sea issue, the two sides committed to maintaining and promoting peace, security, stability, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation; calling on all parties to restrain themselves, not threatening with force or using force, fully respecting diplomatic and legal processes, resolving disputes by peaceful means, on the basis of the fundamental principles of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
On this occasion, the two sides issued a Joint Statement on the results of the visit and signed 3 cooperation documents between the two countries in the fields of marine, fishery and IUU prevention cooperation.
