Ca Mau plans to merge many departments and branches

Ca Mau - On December 6, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting to plan and direct the arrangement and streamlining of the government apparatus.

According to the draft plan to streamline the organization of the government of Ca Mau province, it is expected to merge the following departments and branches: Department of Planning and Investment and Department of Finance; Department of Transport and Department of Construction; Department of Information and Communications and Department of Science and Technology; Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Department of Home Affairs and Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.

The Department of Health takes over the state management function of social protection, children, and social evil prevention from the Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs. The Department of Education and Training takes over the state management function of vocational education from the Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs. The Ethnic Committee takes over the state management function of beliefs and religions from the Department of Home Affairs; and takes over the state management task of poverty reduction from the Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs.

According to the plan to reorganize organizations within the department, the industry will review, reorganize, and consolidate the branches, offices, departments, and affiliated public service units in the direction of streamlining associated with staff reduction, in accordance with management requirements for the industry and field to ensure meeting the prescribed criteria. In cases where there are interconnected and connected tasks, they will be arranged and consolidated into one focal point. For public public service units, the units will be arranged and consolidated to ensure streamlining and meeting the standards for establishing organizations according to regulations.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan emphasized: The streamlining of the organization of the Ca Mau provincial government closely follows the direction and orientation of the Central Steering Committee and the Government Steering Committee. This is an urgent and important task that requires drastic action with the highest spirit and determination. Departments, branches and agencies are requested to proactively prepare conditions for coordination in developing specific projects and plans, proposing to arrange and perfect the organization and staffing (or end operations) according to the requirements of the orientation to arrange and streamline the organization and apparatus, no later than December 15.

As of October 31, Ca Mau province has 19 provincial-level administrative agencies, including specialized agencies under the Provincial People's Committee and the Economic Zone Management Board (excluding the Office of the National Assembly Delegation and the Provincial People's Council). With 111 organizations under administrative agencies, including: 13 branches and equivalent, 34 offices, inspectorates and 64 specialized departments. In 2024, the number of civil servants and public employees assigned to provincial departments and branches is 1,034, currently there are 964 people. The number of leaders and managers is 18 people who are directors and equivalent; 49 people are deputy directors and equivalent. Leaders of organizations under provincial departments and branches: heads and deputy heads have 258 people.
