During his working trip to the southern provinces, on the afternoon of January 16, President Luong Cuong and the Central delegation visited, congratulated and presented Tet gifts to the Party Committee, government and people of An Giang province in My Hoa Hung commune, Long Xuyen city, An Giang province.
Accompanying the delegation were members of the Party Central Committee: Mr. Mai Van Chinh - Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization; Mr. Le Khanh Hai - Head of the Office of the President; Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam - Deputy Minister of National Defense; Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and representatives of leaders of central ministries and branches. On the side of An Giang province, there were Mr. Le Hong Quang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and key leaders of the province.
Expressing his joy at the achievements that Uncle Ton's hometown has made in the past year, the President highly appreciated the solidarity, efforts and overcoming difficulties of the Party Committee, government and people of An Giang province to build and develop the economy, society, security and national defense. The President highly appreciated the preparation and care for Tet for the people and all classes of people, in which the province has been proactive from early on, building plans and implementing many practical activities, thereby demonstrating the morality, responsibility and affection of the Party Committees, government and organizations towards all classes of people.
On the occasion of the New Year, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President wishes the Party Committee, government, people of all ethnic groups and armed forces of An Giang province a new year of peace, happiness and success.
On this occasion, the President presented 600 Tet gifts, including 300 gifts from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, to families with revolutionary contributions, exemplary policy families, poor households and exemplary workers in An Giang province.
Previously, President Luong Cuong offered incense and flowers at President Ton Duc Thang Memorial Site on Ong Ho Islet, My Hoa Hung Commune, Long Xuyen City.
Here, President Luong Cuong wrote in the golden book of memories: “Respectfully remembering President Ton Duc Thang - beloved Uncle Ton - a staunch communist, an exemplary leader who spent his whole life serving the Fatherland and the people, a loyal soldier of the international communist and workers' movement, an excellent son of his homeland An Giang with a rich tradition of patriotism and revolution…”.
The President planted a memorial tree in the grounds of the President Ton Duc Thang Memorial Site.
On this occasion, the President and the delegation visited the family of Mr. Vo Dai Nhan and Mrs. Vo Thi Van, a typical family of veteran revolutionaries in Long Xuyen City, and the family of war invalid Bui Van Huan, former member of the Party Central Committee and former Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
