In late December, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters had the opportunity to return to Lang Nu village after the stilt houses were handed over to the people.
According to records, although households have drawn lots to choose numbers, many households still choose to stay in the temporary housing area and have not moved to new homes.
Through investigation, the reason why households have not moved to resettlement houses is because they are waiting after the inauguration ceremony.
Along with that, according to the households in Lang Nu village, the new house will be the place where they start their life over again after so much pain and loss. People will live here for the rest of their lives, so they wait and choose a good day to hold the house moving ceremony.
At night in the resettlement area, although there is no longer the hustle and bustle of the day, there are still occasional sounds of drilling machines, chatting, and cleaning of people in new houses.
A few people are still diligently cleaning and taking care of their beloved family homes, while there are houses with dark lights because no one lives there.
If during the day, Lang Nu is the embodiment of bustling labor, then at night, this place exudes the beauty of peace and depth. Without the noisy car horns, Lang Nu only has bright lights and the gentle sound of the wind blowing.
Despite many difficulties and losses, Lang Nu still retains the pristine beauty and steadfast spirit of the highland people.
During a simple dinner of families who lost their loved ones after the storm and flood at the temporary shelter, Mr. Nguyen Van Trai (Lang Nu village) shared: "The households in this temporary shelter all have relatives who died due to natural disasters. This great pain cannot be compensated, but we always encourage each other to try to overcome adversity to rebuild our lives."
Ms. Hoang Thi Thang, a villager, also confided: “The evenings here are very quiet, completely different from the hustle and bustle of the city. We often gather together, tell old stories, or sit on the porch to watch the moon and breathe the fresh air."
Informing Lao Dong, the leader of Phuc Khanh commune said that the people of Lang Nu village are actively cleaning and sanitizing their houses and roads to prepare for the inauguration ceremony. Authorities at all levels have also stepped in to support the people with some of the work.
According to Bao Yen district electricity, the storm caused more than 20 billion VND in damage to the district's power system and has now been repaired. As for Lang Nu village, the unit has completed the installation of the power system. All houses of the people have electricity for use, ensuring daily life.
