National Assembly Chairman meets with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet

Prime Minister Hun Manet appreciated Vietnam's support for Cambodia's development.

On the afternoon of November 22, in Phnom Penh, within the framework of an official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia and attending the 12th Plenary Meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the 11th Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia Samdech Hun Manet.

According to the Office of the National Assembly, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet respectfully thanked National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam for their official visit to Cambodia and attendance at two important conferences hosted by Cambodia; emphasizing that this is a testament to the determination of the two sides in developing good neighborly relations, good friends, and working together to build and develop the country.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man informed Prime Minister Hun Manet about the results of the very successful talks with National Assembly Chairman Samdech Khuon Sudary on the afternoon of November 21; said that the two National Assembly Chairmen inaugurated the Cambodian National Assembly Administrative Building - a symbol of the traditional solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia; and thanked Cambodia for awarding the National Assembly Chairman the Grand Cross of Merit.

Believing that the potential between the two countries is still very large, the National Assembly Chairman suggested that the two countries continue to strengthen cooperation in all fields, especially in economics and trade; and asked the Cambodian side to continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest in Cambodia.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly is ready to coordinate with Cambodia to promote ministries, sectors, localities and enterprises to actively and effectively implement signed treaties, agreements and arrangements; coordinate to well organize the 21st Session of the Joint Committee on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, the 13th Conference on Cooperation and Development of Vietnam - Cambodia Border Provinces in Cambodia at a suitable time.

The two sides continue to promote the demarcation of the remaining 16% to build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and long-term development between the two countries.

At the meeting, the National Assembly Chairman and Prime Minister Hun Manet agreed on the need to strengthen education for the younger generation to understand the sacrifices and contributions of the previous generation in the previous struggle for national liberation of the two countries; thereby contributing to further consolidating and developing the traditional friendly neighborly relationship and good cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized that the Cambodian Government always cares about and nurtures the good neighborly friendship between the two countries; believes that the two governments need to coordinate closely and promptly inform each other on issues to deal with challenges that threaten the development of each country; supports cooperation between the two legislative bodies for the benefit of the people; and suggests further strengthening cooperation in all fields between the three parties of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia to develop the economy, especially through connections in tourism and trade.

Prime Minister Hun Manet highly appreciated Vietnam's support for Cambodia's development; emphasizing that the development of Vietnam - Cambodia will contribute to the stability and development of the three countries of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia, as well as the ASEAN region and the world.
