Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, on behalf of the Party and State of Vietnam, led a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly and his wife to attend the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA 46) and paid an official visit to Malaysia from September 16-20, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang informed at a regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of September 11.
Ms. Pham Thu Hang shared that with the theme "National Assembly at the forefront for an inclusive and sustainable ASEAN", the 46th AIPA General Assembly will focus on some key contents as follows:
Firstly, it highlights the key role of the Parliament in promoting inclusive and sustainable growth.
Second, promote the exchange of experiences and good practices on the legal framework and monitoring mechanisms, supporting inclusive and sustainable growth.
Third, enhancing the capacity of parliament in taking advantage of opportunities and responding to challenges.
Fourth, promote cooperation and coordination between parliamentary bodies and socio-political organizations, the private sector, scholars... to implement the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.
Fifth, develop recommendations on policy improvement and legislative initiatives to promote inclusive growth and sustainable development.
According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam - Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is at a particularly good stage with high political trust, close economic - investment cooperation, and close people-to-people exchanges.
The two sides regularly maintain high-level and all-level contacts as well as bilateral cooperation mechanisms.
In terms of economy, Malaysia is Vietnam's 3rd largest trading partner in ASEAN and Vietnam's 9th largest trading partner in the world.
Malaysia is the 3rd largest investor in ASEAN in Vietnam, ranking 10th out of 143 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
Defense - security, labor, culture, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges continue to be strengthened.
It is expected that within the framework of multilateral activities at AIPA 46, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will attend the AIPA Executive Committee meeting, attend a meeting with heads of delegations from countries attending with the Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives, attend the opening ceremony and deliver an important speech at the first plenary session, and have bilateral meetings with heads of parliamentary delegations of countries.
During his official visit to Malaysia, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will hold talks with the Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives and Senate, meet with senior Malaysian leaders, and have other important foreign affairs activities.
