Dear comrades leaders of the Party, State, Army, Ho Chi Minh City and Military Region 7.
Dear comrades.
Today, I am very touched to visit and encourage the forces that are day and night performing the task of searching for and repatriating martyrs' remains at Le Thi Rieng Park - a place associated with the extremely heroic and admirable sacrifices of our army and people in the General Offensive and Uprising of Spring Mau Than 1968.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, I send to comrades, officers, soldiers, scientists, historical witnesses, levels, sectors and the entire people my sincere regards, wishes for good health and deep gratitude.
Dear comrades martyrs at Le Thi Rieng Park and martyrs who sacrificed on the Saigon-Gia Dinh front in the spring of 1968.
Standing in front of this sacred land, we respectfully remember the outstanding children of the nation who bravely fought and bravely sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and national reunification in the spring of 1968. The comrades are the winds that made the storm of Vietnamese revolution, the components that made the Vietnamese posture, building the Fatherland Citadel. For 58 years, you - the liberation soldiers, city commandos, the steadfast revolutionary activists - have still quietly rested in the hearts of the motherland of Saigon. You did not have time to see the day the country was completely unified, but it was your sacrifice that made the day of reunification; you did not have time to witness a peaceful, unified, developed and integrated Vietnam, but it was your life that contributed to opening up a bright future for the Vietnamese nation.
51 years after liberation, Ho Chi Minh City has constantly risen, becoming a vivid symbol of the will, bravery, creativity and aspiration for development of Vietnam. In each achievement of today, there is always the silent presence of those who have fallen. You, brothers and sisters, not only transform into the heart of the earth, but also transform into peace, unity, development, prosperity, and the belief and future of the country. History is written with sacrifice, with feats of arms, and history is more glorious when preserved with gratitude and gratitude from today's and future generations.
For the Party, State and People of Vietnam, searching for, repatriating, and identifying the names of martyrs is a sacred responsibility before the Fatherland and the People; it is the conscience and aspiration of every Vietnamese person. Our people and our Party will never forget those who sacrificed for the country and the nation, that is the morality and cultural tradition of Vietnam.
Before the spirits of the heroic martyrs, we are determined to do our best to complete this noble mission with all responsibility, wisdom and the deepest feelings. We pray that the souls of you will continue to accompany the nation, adding faith, will and strength to the officers, soldiers, scientists and forces who are day and night performing their duties on this land.
Dear comrades on duty at Le Thi Rieng Park,
Each set of martyrs' remains found today is not only a result of professional work, but also the return of a child to the Fatherland, to his family; is the return of a part of history; is the affirmation of the sacred morality of "When drinking water, remember the source", "Gratitude" of the Vietnamese nation.
The Party and State highly appreciate the spirit of responsibility of the National Steering Committee, the Ministry of National Defense, the City Party Committee, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Military Region 7, functional agencies, scientists, historical witnesses and a large number of people who have joined forces to carry out this meaningful task.
In particular, the mobilization of many domestic and international sources of materials; application of modern science and technology; combining historical documents, witness accounts and field surveys has opened up a new direction in the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains.
This is a very valuable model, which needs to be researched, summarized and replicated.
Comrades.
The initial results at Le Thi Rieng Park show that we have every basis to believe that if there is high political determination, correct scientific methods, the involvement of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, many remaining martyrs' remains sites across the country will continue to be found.
In the coming time, I request comrades to focus on doing well 05 key tasks.
First, Ho Chi Minh City continues to identify the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains as a particularly important political task; mobilize the strength of the entire political system, scientists, historical witnesses and people; expand the review of all locations where there may be martyrs' remains in the area, not only in Le Thi Rieng Park but also in areas where fierce battles took place during the resistance wars.
Second, the Command of Military Region 7, the Military Command of Ho Chi Minh City, and the City People's Committee need to promote their core roles, direct and unify forces throughout the Military Region; build a common database; share information and experience; closely coordinate with localities to accelerate the progress of searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs in the entire Military Region.
Third, central ministries, departments, and branches continue to improve mechanisms and policies; promote the application of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, DNA technology, geophysical technology and exploitation of domestic and international archives to serve the task of searching for martyrs.
Fourth, it is necessary to expand international cooperation, take advantage of sources of documents, maps, war records, images and witnesses from countries that participated in the war to serve the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs.
Fifth, promote propaganda and tradition education; spread touching stories about the journey of searching for heroic martyrs to educate patriotism and foster revolutionary ideals for the younger generation.
Dear comrades!
I agree with the policy of continuing to deploy the 500-day and night campaign to search for and repatriate remains, identify martyrs with higher determination, larger scale and more practical effectiveness.
From the results of Ho Chi Minh City and Military Region 7, it is necessary to study and summarize them into models to gradually deploy appropriately nationwide, towards the goal of maximizing the search for martyrs' remains, identifying and bringing heroic martyrs back to their homeland and families.
I also propose that levels and sectors pay attention to researching and preserving places where typical martyrs' graves are found, associated with revolutionary tradition education and gratitude to previous generations.
I believe that the 500-day and night campaign to search for and repatriate martyrs' remains, identify martyrs' identities of Ho Chi Minh City, Military Region 7 in particular and across the country in general will achieve even greater results, contributing to the successful implementation of the policy for people with meritorious services, consolidating the great national unity bloc and fostering spiritual strength to bring the country steadily into a new stage of development.
Wishing comrades good health, happiness, overcoming all difficulties and excellently completing all assigned tasks.
Thank you very much!
