Bright spot in defense relations between the two countries
Within the framework of the 10th Vietnam - China Border Defense Friendship Exchange, on March 18, in Quang Ninh province, General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense - held talks with Senior Lieutenant General Dong Jun - Minister of National Defense of China.
At the talks, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that the 10th Exchange is of special significance, as it is organized immediately after the first Strategic Dialogue at the Ministerial level of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, National Defense, and Public Security of Vietnam - China, demonstrating the active and proactive role of the two Ministries of National Defense in deploying the common understanding of the senior leaders of the two Parties and States on defense cooperation and the contents of cooperation agreed upon by the two sides.
Summarizing 10 times of organizing the Exchange, General Phan Van Giang affirmed that the Vietnam - China border defense friendship exchange, China - Vietnam have become bright spots in defense relations between the two countries.
Starting from 2014, to date after 12 years with 10 organizations, each organization has developed both in breadth and depth. Many activities are becoming more and more substantive, especially this year, for the first time, the two sides witnessed joint training activities between the two countries' navies.
According to General Phan Van Giang, the exchange has become an important channel for contact and exchange between leaders of the two Ministries of National Defense on issues of mutual concern, agreeing on directions for cooperation, in order to make defense cooperation truly a pillar in the relations between the two countries.
The exchange activities also contribute to promoting people-to-people diplomacy, helping people of the two countries have more opportunities for cultural exchange, contact, cooperation, sharing experiences in economic development, building a prosperous and happy life; strengthening the bond between the border protection forces of the two countries, attracting the participation of ministries, branches, authorities and local people in the border area, contributing to improving the ability to coordinate and resolve smoothly and promptly complex issues arising.
The atmosphere of Vietnam - China friendship is increasingly strong
Emphasizing that the 10th Exchange takes place with many very meaningful programs, Senior Lieutenant General Dong Jun - Minister of National Defense of China - thanked the Vietnamese side for preparing well and thoughtfully for this activity.
According to Senior Lieutenant General Dong Jun, the two sides need to strengthen exchanges, contributing to ensuring the stability of the regional and world situation. From 2014 to now, the Exchange has spread the spirit of friendship, and the relations between the two countries have developed remarkably.
The achievements are due to the leadership of senior leaders of the two countries persistently expanding cooperative relations, so exchanges have expanded to many other fields, becoming more substantive and in-depth.
Through exchanges, the atmosphere of Vietnam-China friendship is increasingly strong. Inheriting this tradition, the two sides realize and strengthen exchange activities between the armies of the two countries.
According to Senior Lieutenant General Dong Quan, this activity plays an important role in ensuring regional security, especially the border between the two countries. Border people of the two countries have better exchanges.
This activity not only contributes to the relations between the two countries, but also develops the relationship between the border people of the two countries, promoting the exchange between the three countries Vietnam - Laos - China. In recent years, the exchange mechanism has become more substantive, a symbol of cooperation between the two Parties and two States.
