Can Tho grows steadily
Can Tho City's economy in 2024 continues to maintain stability, with GRDP growth estimated at 7.12%. With an economic scale of about VND 133,064.73 billion and GRDP per capita of VND 104.63 million (about USD 4,162).

The city recorded positive growth in many areas. Total state budget revenue increased by 12.04%. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue increased by 12.38%; the consumer price index was controlled. Labor productivity reached 216.13 million VND/worker (about 8,604 USD). Agricultural production is stable, food security is guaranteed.
Can Tho focuses on developing culture, society, national defense and security, creating a favorable environment for investment and sustainable development.
Soc Trang makes a strong breakthrough
2024 marks an impressive breakthrough for Soc Trang's economy with a GRDP increase of 7.07%. This growth comes from the even contribution of both agriculture (up 5.05%), industry - construction (up 10.15%) and services (up 7.78%).
The industrial production index increased by 5.62% compared to 2023 and the industrial production value at comparison prices in 2010 increased by 9.28%, reaching VND 29,870 billion. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached VND 106,050 billion, up to 20.55%. Soc Trang tourism also witnessed significant growth, welcoming about 3.13 million visitors, an increase of 7.9% with total revenue reaching 1,858 billion VND, an increase of 20%.

Exports continue to be a bright spot with total turnover reaching 1,800 million USD, up 19.45% compared to 2023. Of which, seafood (910 million USD), rice (798 million USD) and garments (88 million USD) were exported.
Total state budget revenue of the province reached VND 5,062 billion, up 42.53%. The banking industry maintains stability and credit growth of 14%, creating favorable conditions for production and business activities.
Soc Trang also maintains good political stability, security - defense, ensuring social security and improving the investment and business environment.
Hau Giang shifts economic structure positively
In 2024, Hau Giang is the province with the highest economic growth rate among the three provinces, reaching 8.76% of GRDP. The main growth driver came from the industrial - construction sector with an impressive increase of 16.57%. Agriculture and services also grew by 3.38% and 6.68%, respectively. GRDP per capita reached 90.13 million VND.
The economic structure continues to shift in a positive direction, with the proportion of industry - construction accounting for 39.89%, agriculture accounting for 21.41%, services accounting for 32% and product taxes minus product subsidies accounting for 6.70%.
Total social investment capital reached VND 25,800 billion, import-export turnover reached USD 1,298 million and budget revenue reached VND 6,321 billion.
Hau Giang maintains political stability, security and ensures people's lives.
According to Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW, on April 12, 2025, at the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, Nghia Tho city will merge with Soc Trang province and Hau Giang province; named Can Tho city, the political - administrative center located in the current Can Tho city. After the merger, the new Can Tho city will have an area of 6,360.83 km2 and a population of 4,061,292 people, with 103 administrative units including 31 wards and 72 communes.
